# Turn your journal club's paper summaries into a podcast episode

Paste the club's summaries and notes of the papers it reads and poddub turns them into a short episode of a private podcast: an audio briefing for the members, with chapters and a transcript, to hear before you meet.

## The paper, heard before the meeting

A journal club writes more than its members can read before it meets: the summary of the week's paper, the presenter's notes on the methods, the questions to raise. poddub turns what the club wrote into a short podcast episode, on a private feed for the members.

Think of it as a private podcast made from the club's own summaries, read by one narrator or talked through by two hosts, as long as you choose. Catching up doesn't need a desk.

## Who it is for

A journal club in a lab, a department or a hospital team: whoever presents a paper writes a summary, and everyone else would rather hear it than read one more document. At work or beyond it, poddub is the same app with the same private feeds.

The presenter keeps writing the summary as before, and everyone arrives having heard it.

## What the club pastes

The club pastes its own summary and notes of a paper, and the paper itself only where its license allows, since what you paste must be yours to use.

Whatever is pasted, a person reads the script before anything is spoken, so a misread result or a wrong figure is corrected by hand first.

## From the summary to an episode in three steps

Sign in to the poddub app with your email address and invite the members: each of them installs poddub, signs in with that address and accepts. Everything below happens in the app.

1. **Paste the summary** Paste the summary and the presenter's notes into the app, and pick the team it is for: the whole club, or one lab in it. If several members wrote notes, paste each as a source and make one episode from several. Then choose one narrator or two hosts, the language and the length.
2. **Read and approve the script** poddub writes the script and stops. Read it line by line and correct a name, a figure or a term by hand, since whatever you write is spoken as it stands. Have poddub write a line or the whole script again where it needs to, and approve it. Nothing is spoken before that.
3. **Publish to the club** When the audio is ready, publish it to its team, or to everyone in the organization when your role allows it. It reaches the members in the app and in their private feeds before the meeting.

## What the members get

A short episode with chapters, so a member can go back to the methods or the results, and a transcript for anyone who would rather read. Everyone listens in the poddub app, or in any podcast app that can add a show by link, with a private link of their own.

Every episode starts by saying that its voices are AI-generated, and the same line goes with it to podcast apps.

## Hear what an episode sounds like

There is no episode made from a journal club's summaries on poddub's public show yet. Its episodes are poddub's own news, made through poddub: listen to one to hear the voices, the chapters and the pace.

## What it costs

Reading the script, changing lines and having it written again cost no minutes. Minutes are charged when a script is approved, by the length chosen for the episode. Listening costs no minutes, and every member who listens takes a seat.

The free tier listens and makes nothing. A plan is a number of seats, chosen in the app by an owner of the club's organization; the pricing page says what each plan makes in a month.
