# get_episode

Get an episode

Shows one episode's state, title and any failure and, once it is ready, links to listen to it that stop working after a while. Any member who can see the episode can use it, and an agent calls it every 20 to 30 seconds to wait while poddub writes the script or makes the audio. It never hands out a link that lasts, and it never reads anyone's private feed.

## What the server says

The description an agent is given, word for word. This tool only reads; it changes nothing.

> One episode's state, title and failure; once it is ready, playback carries URLs that expire at expiresAt. Poll this to wait for scripting or rendering.

## Input

| Field | Type | Required | What it takes |
| ----------- | ---- | -------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `episodeId` | text | yes | not empty; The episode's id, as list_episodes or create_episode answers it. |

## Refusals

A refusal comes back as the tool's result, marked as an error, with the code and what explains it.

| Code | What it means |
| ------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| `episode_not_found` | No such episode among the ones the person can see. |

Every tool can also answer `rate_limited` and `not_a_member`: see [Limits](/docs/agents/limits) and [Keys](/docs/agents/keys).
